On April 24, 1903, one of the founders of American modern dance was born to parents who immigrated from Russia. Helen ยท Tamilis was formerly known as Helen Becker but grew up on the Lower East Side in New York, New York. Throughout her life, she helped to dance, choreograph and start modern dancing. In the latter part of my life, I moved to the "Big White Road" known as Broadway and choreographed many programs. In 1911 or at the age of 8, Tamilis began dancing with Eileen Luis Ann at the Henry Street settlement.
Helen Tamiris initially received free practice training (Irene Lewisohn) and ballet (Michel Fokine) Tamiris and Isadora Duncan for short research, but did not emphasize personal expression and lyrics. Tamiris thinks that every dance needs to produce its own way of expression, so you can not acquire personal styles and skills. As a choreographer, Tamilis created works focused on the theme of the United States with concerts and musical themes. Leicester Houghton has chosen to work in California (3,000 miles from New York, a modern dance center), and Houghton has developed his own way to blend elements including native American dance and modern jazz. Horton's dance skill (Lester Horton Technology) emphasizes systematic methods such as flexibility, strength, coordination, body consciousness, etc., to enable freedom of expression
Helen Barrett Montgomery (1861-1934) is a social reformist, a famous baptist, an excellent intellectual in the American women's Christian missionary movement. In this prestigious biography, Kendall Mobley analyzes the intellectual development of an attractive woman and places her in a situation of a rapidly changing era. Mobly explores the influence of Montgomery's early family, her education and spiritual development, and relations with other famous people of those days including Susan B. Anthony. As Mobley pointed out, Montgomery believes that Christianity gives women the same spiritual and social status as men. Therefore, she regards "work for women's women" as the forefront of women's liberation movement around the world.
