HVAC technicians will troubleshoot and install heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment in commercial, residential, and industrial environments. HVAC engineers usually work as helpers
The average hourly wage is $ 19.84 and the beginner level position is below this level. The Gulf Industrial Development Committee estimates that by 2022 the opportunities for HVAC engineers and installers will increase by 25.7%. (Source: Workforce Solutions, 2016). Certificate applicants can find the following positions.
COM's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning programs train students to skilled high-professional occupations in less than a year. Students were prepared for installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of HVAC technicians / assistants using manual and power tools. This course combines teaching in the classroom and practical work, and is taught by a teacher with many years of hands-on experience. This course is two days a week according to the schedule of work. Upon completion of this course, a vocational skill award, OSHA 10 General Industrial Card and EPA certificate will be awarded.
New students must register directly with the COM's continuing education office of 1475 Technical Professional Building Suite. Students returning to school can register directly or online from www.com.edu/register. Textbooks are not included in textbooks
Minimum age requirement: Students must be 18 years of age or over or have high school diploma or GED
Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) - this is a subsidy based on the economic needs available through COM's financial support office
Hazlewood Act - This aid applies to veterans whose spouses and eligible children are available through the complainant's financial aid office.
Labor innovation and opportunity law - This aid is based on economic needs and is available through labor solution.
In this course we will introduce the power principles required for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry. Students prove knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, current, circuitry and air conditioning equipment, prove the safety of electricity and obtain OSHA 10 certification
This course is a study on HVAC terms, tools, and skills. Students identify and use HVAC tools, identify and use copper, plastic and ferrous metal pipe technologies, braze and weld operations, and explain the principles of electricity and HVAC.
Students measure AC and DC circuits, air characteristics and distribution; demonstrate maintenance procedures for typical HVAC equipment
This is an advanced course to explain the principle of troubleshooting. Students learn how to use test equipment for performance testing and diagnose air conditioning and refrigeration parts and system problems.
This course is designed to ensure that students understand the Federal Air Cleanup Act No. 608 in 1990, to prepare for certification exams, including intensive training to update student knowledge and / or skills, It is a study of federal regulation
In November 2012, cooperation of ASHRAE (US heating society, refrigeration air conditioning technology), REHVA (Association's European heating, ventilation, air conditioning federation) and SCANVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Sanitary Engineering Society of Scandinavian Navia Federation) In order to share the 7th International Design ยท Calgary to improve the humidity and temperature performance of cold weather, sponsored meetings, indoor air quality (IAQ) and papers and research accomplishments held in Alberta, Invite researchers, designers, engineers and manufacturers Reduce the amount of resources consumed in buildings during cold weather. SCANVAC held this series of meetings in Finland in 1994 and started discussing about coordinating our worldwide building system to cope with the climate change currently faced.
Renovation works around new buildings and buildings, buildings require heating, ventilation and air conditioning service. There are many different opportunities for careers in this field. These include residential air conditioning, commercial air conditioning, freezing, plant maintenance, equipment repair, apartment maintenance, management and energy management, and sales. Even after experiencing on-site experience, many engineers continue to develop their own business. Currently, in South Carolina, experienced employees are seriously short of familiar with commercial and residential air conditioning systems. Work in HVAC / R service technicians working in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry in the era of high-tech equipment and state-of-the-art electronic control is becoming a highly skilled and challenging work
