Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning

COM's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning programs train students to skilled high-professional occupations in less than a year. Students were prepared for installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of HVAC technicians / assistants using manual and power tools. This course combines teaching in the classroom and practical work, and is taught by a teacher with many years of hands-on experience. This course is two days a week according to the schedule of work. Upon completion of this course, a vocational skill award, OSHA 10 General Industrial Card and EPA certificate will be awarded.

New students must register directly with the COM's continuing education office of 1475 Technical Professional Building Suite. Students returning to school can register directly or online from www.com.edu/register. Textbooks are not included in textbooks

Minimum age requirement: Students must be 18 years of age or over or have high school diploma or GED

Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) - this is a subsidy based on the economic needs available through COM's financial support office

In this course we will introduce the power principles required for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry. Students prove knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, current, circuitry and air conditioning equipment, prove the safety of electricity and obtain OSHA 10 certification

This course is a study on HVAC terms, tools, and skills. Students identify and use HVAC tools, identify and use copper, plastic and ferrous metal pipe technologies, braze and weld operations, and explain the principles of electricity and HVAC.

Students measure AC and DC circuits, air characteristics and distribution; demonstrate maintenance procedures for typical HVAC equipment

This is an advanced course to explain the principle of troubleshooting. Students learn how to use test equipment for performance testing and diagnose air conditioning and refrigeration parts and system problems.
