An idea of mathematics with Halloween themed appeared in this week or two weeks. Among them are three ideas for making nice classroom activities.
These geometric paper masks available from @ Wintercroft (below) www.wintercroft.com were often attracted to my attention. ! After evaluation of the semester, I regarded the Y12 Additional Maths group as a mask creation course. As the students came back home, there are no photos of homemade works - I am looking forward to their final results on Monday
These masks are not strictly origami, but they consist of a printable "net" or template. Although masks are meant for personal use only, Wintercroft is passionate about promoting the process in the educational environment, and as long as you do not store or share the digital file on a shared computer or share or distribute it, You can print as one time item.
The mask can be made with a serial box or other recycled card, but I will print the template directly to a strong enough white 160 gsm card. It takes a while, but use a more powerful labeling assembly method and gluing the piece with an adhesive stick. I made a bat half mask (upper, upper left) and found out that it was assembled very directly. I paint it in black and splash around the campus on Monday :)
The template has a detailed explanation, but there is also a video guide. And mathematics? In addition to encouraging perseverance, perseverance, and attention to detail, this is also a wonderful activity to link to polygons, nets, polyhedra. So how about the challenge of designing your own geometric mask? !
Digital mosaic artist Chris Watson (@ tessellationART) has created a short short video showing the design process behind recent works. This is a triplet of the skull inspired by the image of the "death day" in Mexico. In addition to the mosaic, the skull also appears repeatedly in the ocular fossa and includes repeating fractal elements that disappear again at infinity. This is a very good resource that can stimulate discussions in a classroom at various levels.
If you are experimenting with any activity, please give feedback on the following comments or Twitter. I would like to see pictures of student works. Happy Halloween!
But Halloween? Halloween will be accepted or left around October 31st. Did you say your child is going through math test tomorrow? I can not help it. You said you would make a presentation in the morning, you can not walk the street until 9 pm and all of your children go to Oliver Twist-y to ask the neighbor to eat candy? I will handle that. Anyone who makes a tough day thinking down on the morning of November 1 and comes down from the bed can say that Halloween is not a weekday holiday. Every teacher trying to settle down at a full house will agree to eat sugar in the morning.
Well, the popularity of Halloween grew exponentially. Halloween is celebrated on 31 October each year. The obvious question about Halloween is "What does Halloween mean?" Therefore, Halloween is also an abbreviation for Allhalloween, "Eve of All Holy Objects." Halloween is basically an English word for all saints. This is another name for Halloween. After a while, people gradually began to mention All Hallows' Hallowe'en, then they are simply called 'Halloween'. To make Halloween the second largest commercial festival in the country, Americans spend about $ 5 billion on Halloween. In Halloween, there are many holidays in many countries. Therefore, during these holidays, many people would like to know what they can do to make these holidays available.
