GUEST COLUMN: Why students should choose their own classes

Many students believe that the courses they took at high school were not related to their most important areas of study in higher education.

Are students wanting to major in journalism compelled to take chemistry, physics, and calculus course to graduate? Do you want students majoring in biochemistry to be told you have to study English for 3 and 4 years to acquire a diploma?

Students are not concentrating on important things, they need to prepare students for life after real-world and high school graduation. As high school students knows, it is difficult to spend hours doing their homework while balancing health, work and exercise, as everyone knows.

The problem with our current educational system is that we can not go anywhere if the time spent in the classroom is too long and the classroom does not have enough time to support our lives and careers.

Students should be able to choose their course. This is to prepare for the real world. If students have opportunities to choose their courses rather than taking a course to graduate from a particular course, they will have the desire to study and go to school.

If students can choose what they want to know, students strongly desire to interact with these materials.

Blake Boles, a columnist at Huffington Post, says: "Let's make free high school students as free as university students, and we will step forward in the right direction."

Students only want to learn the course they will help them in the future. Students rarely feel that they need to learn advanced chemistry and calculus because they help them in real life. Most students just want to learn the courses that are prepared for the real world. As high school knows that robbing away from these courses will actually help them in their later life when high school offers personal finance, public speaking or independent life course, these courses I will get more advanced. This is the result of success when students can apply knowledge learned in high school to real life.

Students have different ideas about different interests, and it is unfair to 'popularize' the courses each student must learn. If students are improving and are keen on English courses but are struggling with math and science courses, students should learn more literature freely to prosper their favorite things and to learn is.

Designate the time of graduation, sports event, or other school activities and ask the students to talk about their chosen question.
