Group Work in Secondary Education

· The number of people receiving secondary education is increasing, and the completion rate of high school education in each age group is rapidly rising. Worldwide, the enrollment rate of secondary education has increased by 10 times from 40 million in 1950 to more than 400 million today in the past 50 years. At the same time, the enrollment rate of higher education increased by about 14 times from 6.5 million in 1950 to 88.2 million in 1997. • The number of literate adults has increased significantly from the estimated 2.7 billion in 1990 to 3.3 billion in 1998 in the past decade. Currently the adult literacy rate of the world is 85% for men and 74% for women. More than 50% of the world's adult population now goes to elementary school. However, an estimated 8.8 million adults can not read or write, and in least developed countries one in two will fall into this category. Two-thirds of adult illiterates are females, exactly as they were ten years ago.

As we all know, education affects social equality. Especially at the secondary education level, there are socioeconomic groups that can not receive high quality education in the United States. In countries that receive high quality secondary education throughout the economy, income disparity is much smaller. The increase in demand for highly skilled workers exacerbated the expansion of wage disparity. The company invests a great deal of money to train skilled workers to promote the wage rise of skilled workers. This leads to un-emphasis or automation of less skillful functions, lowering the skill of low skill workers.
