Great Wall of China

The Great Wall extends about 5,500 miles across the desert, mountains, grasslands, and plateaus. It took over 2000 years to build this incredible man-made structure. Many people who made this wall died. It shows the change between agriculture and nomadism civilization. It proves that an excellent structure is very important for military defense. It became a national symbol of the state and security of the people. The Great Wall must be protected as it is a symbol of history that allows China and other parts of the world to prosper (UNESCO World Heritage Center: Great Wall).

The aim of the Great Wall was to protect the Chinese empire from the invasion of nomads tribes and troops. The length of the wall is about 5000 kilometers, and the height is 7.5 meters. In the late Ming dynasty, the Great Wall expanded to 6,400 kilometers. Forbidden City: Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing. This is the palace of 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing era.
