What is needed? As more and more people graduate and acquire a college degree, employers are forced to choose the best talent to serve in their organization. When selection is rich, what can you do to draw attention, think, and eventually get hired? Malaysia itself is in full employment and the unemployment rate was 9% in November 2012 (Malaysia Statistics Bureau, 2012). Why are you still unemployed? According to reports and surveys, not only employers but also educators, leaders, and experts are beginning to realize the importance of soft skills and the ability to get work.
Employers in Malaysia need graduates with skills in communication skills, problem solving, computer knowledge, teamwork, and management skills. The demand for the quality of graduates in Malaysia is still a problem. In addition to technical skills, educational institutions are responsible for training graduates with 21st century skills to develop superior talent. However, educational institutions still have problems in meeting their needs (Suratman & Mohd Rosli, 2010). As mentioned above, the problems encountered in information and communication technology are closely related to the development of technology in the 21st century among students. E-Learning already practiced in higher education institutions has the potential to hire students' 21st century skills (Jones & Fitzgibbon, 2006)
The inconsistency in skills between employers and workers is one of the many causes of unemployment among high school graduates. Malaysia has trained many skilled workers in IT, science and specialization graduates to improve research and development and improve productivity of key major sectors. There is no quality leadership to absorb the leads of these initiatives that lead to high unemployment. Gender inequality in education and employment is a major challenge for development. Women's advantage by entering higher education institutions does not necessarily promote participation in the labor market directly. Women may graduate more than men, but female graduates may work at a lower wage or become unemployed than male graduates. The number of female enrollment exceeds that of men, which is due to the new gender gap.
