Gothic Novels

Gothic is described as destructive and barbaric, attracting what is considered a citizen and destroying it. So, Jackson is correct to some extent. Gothic novels use horrors such as castles and dungeons and medieval elements. Frankenstein of Mary Snow and Wuthering Heights of Emily Bronte are examples of Gothic novels. Gothic novelist Ann Radcliffe Radcliffe (1764-1823) wrote "Otto Buddha's Mystery" and "Italian Language". Most of her works include innocent young ladies, dark mysterious castles, and aristocrats with a secret pastoralism. Horace Walpole Horace Walpole (1717-1797) was the first Gothic novel and wrote Otranto's castle which is thought to be more than 4,000 published letters.

Castles, gothic novels, dungeons, dim forests, and hidden passages have emerged as women gothic. Under the guidance of works by writers such as Ann Radcliffe, Mary Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, Women Gothic allows to introduce feminine society and sexuality into Gothic text. Women's gothic is different from male gothic. Story techniques, plots, supernatural assumptions, and differences between terrorism and horror usage. The focus of the female Gothic story focuses on the persecuting heroine theme seeking absent mothers to escape from evil fathers, but male writers tend to violate male social taboos. In addition to the general couple plot, the emergence of ghost stories left something for women writers to do more radical criticism of male forces, violence and predatory sexual intercourse.
