Yeast is a chemical organic nutrient that takes energy from organic compounds. Yeast is usually aerobic or facultative anaerobic bacteria. A series of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) biocompatibility tests were conducted to demonstrate the biocompatibility of the components of the ION (R) paclitaxel eluting platinum-chromium coronary stent system (monorail and wire). The stent graft and stent delivery system were tested separately. Ethylene oxide sterilized bare metal (platinum chromium (PtCr)) stents and stent delivery systems were tested. These test items are processed in the same way as finished IONTM products. Several slight manufacturing discrepancies that do not affect the biocompatibility of the final device have been confirmed.

Research using the GLP program to demonstrate the safety of BPA was conducted. Excellent laboratory practices are guidelines that scientists follow when doing research. The United States has made BPA security decisions based on a small number of tests using the GLP program (Myers). The purpose of GLP is to prevent scientific research companies from doing corruption in scientific research. It includes a high standard of protocols that help to take care of experimental animals, equipment and personnel. If there is no 'security guard' there will be scientific and academic corruption. "GPL does not guarantee the reliability and effectiveness of scientific research" (Myers). "Reliability" of the measurement experiment is to find the reproducibility of the experiment. The "effectiveness" of the experiment is what the researcher expects. In other words, "Although GLP creates a reliable and effective scientific look, it does not actually provide such a guarantee" (Myers)
