Egyptians worship many gods. They built many wonderful temples for their gods. There is a sacred statue in the temple. The priest of the temple takes care of that statue. They wash them, dress them up, and even serve them!
One of the most important gods in Egypt is Amonley, the god of the sun. Osiris is the god of the dead, the ruler of the underworld. Horus is also known as the god of Falcon, is the god of the sky. Isis is healing, marriage, and maternal goddess. The Egyptians believe their gods and goddesses will observe what they did.
The ruler of Egypt was called Pharaoh. Egyptian pharaoh married his sister who often became his queen. Pharaoh has complete control over people. People believe that their pharaohs control the weather, the flood of the Nile River and the growth of the crops. They believe that their pharaohs are more than just men. They adore him as a god
When Egyptian pharaoh died, his grave was placed in a special graveyard. Some pharaohs are buried in pyramids. Others were buried in a secret place called King's Valley
King Tutankhamen was the 12th Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of the new Kingdom of Egypt. He ruled from 1333 BC until 1323 BC, and after a marvelous death at 18 years old. His noble counsel, Ayr held a funeral for Tutan in the valley of the king near Thebes, and he took over the throne. The tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered by an archaeologist called Howard Carter in 1922. Tutan's cemetery has over 5000 beautiful things, many of which are gold.
