Goal 15: Life on land

Human life depends on the sea as much as the ocean, which also helps us survive and live. Plant life supplies 80% of human diet, and we rely on agriculture as a means of significant economic resources and development. Forests account for 30% of the Earth's surface, provide important habitats for millions of species, are an important source of clean air and water, and are essential to combat climate change.

Today, we are seeing unprecedented land degradation and 30 to 35 times the historical loss rate of cultivated land. Drought and desertification are increasing every year, bringing damage of 12 million hectares and affecting the poor communities around the world. Of the 8,300 known species of animals, 8% are in danger of extinction and 22% are in danger of extinction

The goal of sustainable development goal is to protect and restore the use of terrestrial ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, arid areas, mountains etc by 2020. Stopping deforestation is also important to mitigate the impact of climate change. We must take urgent actions to reduce natural habitats that are part of our common heritage and loss of biodiversity

A year ago, leaders from 193 countries gathered at the United Nations to sign sustainable development goals. It is a list of 17 goals to eradicate poverty and hunger, create sustainable cities and communities, protect terrestrial and marine life, and take urgent action to tackle climate change and its impact. Nearly 7,000 large companies and 11,000 small and medium enterprises are members of the Global Compact and we are committed to incorporating these specific goals into our business model. There are more than 1,200 companies in Mexico including 269 large companies. This is an amazing statistic to prove that my country, the US should pay attention to Mexican leadership!
