Glass Powder People often compare water skiing and snowboarding with similar movements, but there are many differences. Water skiing and snowboarding require similar skills. They all include weight change, edge control, sculpting technique, balanced lateral movement, and great pressure on the legs. It is not surprising that water skiing is a perfect crossover sport for winter snowboarding. Most professional travelers keep on feeling while skiing on the slopes during the off season.

SLS uses high power lasers to fuse small particles of plastic, ceramic or glass powder into a material having the desired three dimensional shape. The laser selectively melts the powder material by scanning the cross-section (or layer) produced by the 3D modeling program on the surface of the powder bed. After scanning each cross section, lower the powder bed by the layer thickness. Then apply the new material layer up and repeat this process until the object is complete.

Additional manufacturing layer technology SLS involves the use of high power lasers (eg carbon dioxide lasers) for fusing small particles of plastic, metal, ceramic or glass powder into blocks having the desired three dimensional shape. The laser selectively melts the powder material by scanning a cross section generated by a 3D digital description of the component on the surface of the powder bed (eg from a CAD file or scanned data). After scanning each section, the powder bed is lowered by the thickness of the layer, a layer of new material is applied to the top and this process is repeated until the part is completed.

In this way, 3D printers place "high power particles of plastic, metal, ceramic, or glass powder" in specific 3D forms. Selected materials placed on the printer are blended layer by layer on top of the powder bed. After forming each layer, "reduce powder bed to layer thickness". Repeat this procedure for each new layer until the desired object is created. The unused powder base still functions as a support structure and is available for further printing projects. FDM is very likely to be used with any home 3D printer. In this process, the printer "extrudes a heated or melted stream of thermoplastic material" with "layer additive". The thermoplastic material becomes flexible or moldable at a specific temperature and solidifies on cooling. Once the material exits the printer through the extrusion nozzle, the material should immediately cure to obtain the desired shape.
