People say you are what you ate, and it also makes us a genetically modified organism. In the past few years, GMO has replaced our diet with genetically modified foods that change human health and native species. Due to tolerance to pesticides and herbicides, the DNA of plants has been divided and linked to other DNA, which is genetically engineered, but this is inherently impossible. Eating these genetically modified foods and processed foods increases the risk of disease, cancer, and even death.

The organisms produced by genetic engineering are considered to be genetically engineered (GM), and the resulting entity is a genetically modified organism (GMO). The first GMO was bacteria produced by Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen in 1973. When foreign DNA was inserted into the mouse in 1974, Rudolf Jaenisch made the first transgenic animals. Genentech, the first company focused on genetic engineering, was founded in 1976 and started production of human proteins. Genetically engineered human insulin was produced in 1978 and insulin producing bacteria were commercialized in 1982. Genetically modified foods have been on sale since 1994, and Flavr Savr tomatoes have been released. Flavr Savr is designed to have a longer shelf life, but most existing GM crops have been improved to improve resistance to insects and herbicides. Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen made the first genetically modified organisms in 1973. They took the gene from the antibiotic kanamycin resistant bacterium, inserted it into the plasmid and then induced to incorporate other bacteria into the plasmid. Bacteria can survive in the presence of kanamycin. Boyer and Cohen expressed other genes in bacteria. It contains the 1974 gene from Xenopus laevis and creates the first GMO that expresses genes from different kingdoms.
