Gene mutation Introduction Gene mutation is a permanent change in the DNA sequence constituting the gene. This kind of change can be caused by the inheritance of parents or it can be caused by someone's life. Genetically inherited mutations are called germline mutations. Germline mutations almost affect the entire body and they appear to be present in all cells.
