The 1860 census lasted five months, at the eighth census held in the United States on June 1, 1860. The population of the United States was 31,443,321 people and decided that it increased by 35.4% from 23,191,875 people counted during the 1850 census. The total population includes 3,953,761 slaves. When the 1860 census returned to preparation for watchmaking, that country was involved in the American civil war. As a result, Census Bureau Director Joseph C. G. Kennedy and his staff created only a short public report without graphic or map representation. By statistics, census workers can create a map display that includes creating a map of Southern states for the local commanders of the Alliance. These maps show militarily important topics including white, slave population, major agricultural products (by county), transport routes of railroads and roads.

The 1880 census was an important moment in American history. This is the last time that the Census Bureau has found something similar to the US border, and only half of the country engages in agriculture. As the census itself became very big, the government collected more data than required for the form. To create 23 volumes, including analysis, it took eight years and thousands of people. At this rate, the 1900 census may start before the result of the 1890 census is completed.
