Gender Inequality in America

The immediate problem today is why and how inequality among men and women exists and how in the United States today. There are many theories trying to explain the cause of inequality.

Inequality among men and women is the concept and situation that women and men are not equal. Gender inequality refers to the general or partial unequal treatment or perception of individuals for gender. It arises from the difference in sex role. Gender systems are usually binary and hierarchical. Gender inequality, whether based on experience or social construction, is due to the difference. In many areas, women are lagging behind men, including education, labor market opportunities, political representatives.

Gender inequality, in other words, gender discrimination means unfair rights between men and women due to differences in roles between men and women, bringing unequal treatment in life. Although the term gender inequality is widely known in the history of mankind, it was not until the early 20 th century that the transformation of gender relations became one of "the most rapid and serious social changes" ( Wright & Rogers, 2009). At the same time, the status of men and women is generally fixed. Growth of this situation is obvious. According to a US study, women's wages at work are 75% of men. According to the 1963 law, women received only 58 cents in the 20th century when men received 1 dollar reparation (Tran 2012).
