He acquired civil rights through his own non-violent approach and eventually became independent from Indian people. Mahatma was born in Mohandas K. Gandhi in 1869 at Porbandar in India. He lived there until 1888. He graduated from the University of London to learn the law. In 1891 Gandhi returned to India after entering the British bar and tried to practice in Mumbai, but it was hardly successful.
