Galileo: Scientist, Scholar, Rebel

European studies of the 17th century were dominated by two powerful powers: the Roman Catholic church led by the Pope and the ancient philosophy led by Greek philosopher Aristotle's thought. The church has an overwhelming influence on the lives of most Europeans. During the Galileo era, one of the twelve people who lived in Rome was a pastor or a nun 1 Church prohibits all teachings deviating from the teachings of the Bible.
