The author is analyzing how the movements of indigenous peoples in Latin America became viable political parties. For her, these new political parties are suitable for democracy because they enrich and strengthen the legitimacy of politics and electoral system. She believes that the main connection between the state and society is the influence of the parties and accountability to the agency. She proved that the crisis of traditional political parties and the transformation of historical election constraints are the deciding factor that contributed to the formation and integration of ethnic parties.
