In the 1980s, Woodrow Wilson High School was considered a skilled school. However, in the early 1990s, schools launched a consolidation program where discipline and submission are of primary concern. On her first day Miss Groewell was eagerly looking forward to a positive and enthusiastic student assembly. Instead, she is facing a hostile teenager who is apartheid in the classroom.

I will use the Freelance Journal Teacher's Guide (Gruwell and Freelance Writers Foundation 2007) to attract my students and raise empathy in the classroom. In the "Crest" campaign, students can demonstrate the importance of each individual. In the "Bingo you know" campaign, students shared facts about themselves anonymously, and classmates tried to guess which facts were with whom. In offline games, students can step on the tapes on the floor according to the teacher 's inquiries.
