He ended the Great Depression that the country died in 1929 and opened up a new era in American history. Ben Franklin Benjamin Franklin is one of the most influential people in American history. Franklin was born in a small town in Boston on January 17, 1706. Benjamin is one of ten children. His father, Josiah, is a manufacturer of candles and soaps, and his mother, Abia-forgue is a housewife. When Benjamin was only twelve years old, he signed his identity to apprentice in front of his brothers and work at a printing shop. Here he worked for more than nine years for his brother James.
