Three students in Florida now can write free papers on Hispanic Americans and contributions to our country and study for 4 years at the University of Florida.
The Florida Prepaid University Foundation recently awarded four years of University of Florida program scholarship to the Governor's elementary and junior high school, high school winner of the annual Spanish traditional monthly essay contest.
Cynthia O'Connell, director of the Florida Prepaid Academy Foundation, states: "The level of answers to the thesis is wonderful, and the student who won the championship is truly mastering the achievements of these Hispanic American heroes."
The Florida Prepaid Academy Foundation is the 14th year we are awarded a scholarship to the winner of the Hispanic Monthly Essay Competition.
If you purchase a Florida prepaid plan and your child receives a scholarship you can receive the same amount of refund as the program to Florida State University or University.
The winners are Ayan Nallamshetty, a fifth grader of Tampa, a sixth grade Charleigh Wood of Dade City, and Lina Neraas, a 12th grade student in Panama City.
Neraas focused on the contribution of Maria Mestre Delores de los Andrue, who became the first female Hispanic lighthouse guardian of St. Augustine in 1860.
"The outcome of Andue is an indicator of Florida women and Hispanic empowerment and opportunities, indicating that hard work and motivation to learn can overcome physical and social constraints," Neraas wrote. The Florida Prepaid College Foundation is proud to cooperate with the Florida Volunteer Education Department and the Governor Secretariat to coordinate the event's logistics.

Awards: Winners will be notified after October 22, 2018. The winner will be awarded the Florida University Program Scholarship for four years from the Florida Prepaid Academy Foundation. A winner will be awarded a Spanish Heritage Month celebration with Governor Rickscott and First Lady Anscote. This award will be held in Tallahassee. Reasonable travel expenses and accommodation fees will be paid to winners and their close relatives.
