Foreshadowing in "The Monkeys Paw" By: W.W. Jacobs

"Wind is rising," Mr. White said. He was too late to see a fatal mistake, so I always thought that my son wanted to stop watching it. "

This reference shows the forecast for making a mistake in this case until he realized it was delayed. The story begins with the chess scene they play, and Mr. White incorrectly believes that he was a chess game and that dangers and mistakes are parallel to the events in the story. This means that Mr. White makes a more serious mistake at the latter stage of the story until it is too late to see the mistake. The result of the chess game reflects the result of the story

"I hope that there will be 200 pounds," the old man said explicitly. A wonderful percussion sound from the piano touched these words and was interrupted by trembling of the old man. His wife and son ran to him. "It touched it," he felt aversion to things when he was lying on the floor. In this sentence, when Mr. White wants 200 pounds, Herbert said he did not see the money, and he will not bet. This is used to suggest what will happen in the future, it may lead the reader to cast doubt on the meaning of Herbert.

W. W. writer Jacobs grew up in a large family living in London, England. He grew up on the beach with his older brother and sister and his father worked at South Devon Pier, where he worked most of the time. The first example is how fathers play chess. He took a "radical opportunity" to "endanger his king", so he lost the game with his son. Therefore, we are not surprised when our father is willing to owe the mysterious monkey's claws to make three wishes. Later, he discussed three wishes and the first boss of the feet, and his last wish was death. Therefore, for the first owner and the second owner (Morris) we know that these three wishes only bring pain. In this way, the reader believes that the monkey's nails are not fortunate. This doubt was confirmed when the father saw the face in the fire and shook after making a wish.

In W. W Jacobs' s "The Monkeys Paw", he uses suspense in various ways to attract readers to tell stories.
