Ford Motor Company History Henry Ford is an engineer in Detroit, Michigan, and he has an idea. Malcomsson talked about the possibility of making a car. The Ford Foundation was founded in 1949 by Henry Ford II and is a non-profit company funded by Ford Motor Company. In 2016, the Ford Foundation donated 58.9 million dollars to various projects with emphasis on education, driving safety and community building. An important plan for the Ford Foundation is the driver safety program for young people developed jointly with Ford Driving Skills Life Program, Governor's Traffic Safety Association and safety experts. Ford volunteer team allows Ford employees and retirees to sign up volunteers in over 40 countries to participate in local projects
