In the UK, food waste is a major problem, about 15% of the food consumed in the year is discarded (National Statistics, 2011) and costs 480 pounds per year per average consumer (WRAP, 2011). The "waste of food and disposal" activity, which replaces the Waste and Resource Action Plan (WRAP), wasting food is undermining our fiscal situation and the incredible environment. The use of energy and water contributes (LFHW [1], 2011).
Generally, Americans will waste 40% of the food produced in the United States. The natural resources that produce this food are also wasted. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, if food waste is a country it will be the world's third largest emitter of greenhouse gases. The food we waste has a great impact on wildlife and the environment. Most waste food products are ultimately threatened by landfill as wildlife including hazardous waste. When they mistakenly enter the net and become "bycatch" our useless fishing activities can harm the animals at risk. These marine animals such as turtles, dolphins, whales, sharks have been abandoned by millions of people.
Reducing food waste is an important step in combating hunger, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable use of natural resources, and reducing food waste. Food waste is a global concern and the amount of food waste generated in the United States is one of the highest in the world. Weighing is necessary for weight measurement activities. The recommended ratio is the "smart weighing" shipping scale (for additional information, see the figure below). This size takes about 30 dollars. If the school can not afford the expenses and school officials can not afford it (PTA, student club etc), the EREF can receive a scholarship to cover the proportional cost. However, scholarships are limited, and in some cases they may be available on request, but in some cases they may not be available.
Decomposing this social problem into bite size food can be of help. Reconsideration of Food Waste by Released Economy and Data (ReFED) announced yesterday shows the outline of "Roadmap" which reduces US food waste by 20% in 10 years. Among them, the authors propose various ways to help fill the gap between the number we are growing and the number we need more. Donating matching software such as Spoiler Alert is one way to promote food recovery. Food banks, pantries, soup kitchens, and other similar organizations have received nearly 7 million tons of food each year and distributed them. Although it is not certain to sneeze, ReFED estimates to recover an additional 1 million tons by 2025. This is equivalent to an additional 8 billion meals, of which only 250 million dollars will be donated to the software.
