First Listen: Benjamin Britten's 'War Requiem'

When the British composer Benjamin Britten began to consider writing the oratorio about the time to complete the war hell and war sedation, the world was consumed several times by violence. Among the traditional texts used in the Mass of the dead, Britton slipped Wilfred Owen's poems and himself was killed a week before the end of the First World War. Poetry is painful and it does not misunderstand the intentions of Britton's pacifists. He quoted Owen on the title page. In the summer of 1963, Boston Globe announced a commentary on the premiere of the US premiere of Benjamin 's Britton War Requiem at Tanglewood. Not to mention premiere of major works of contemporary nature, I have never seen such a positive comment on any performance. I am not doing.
