Since 9th November, firefighters are drawing attention in the eyes of the public. In this series of articles I will explain the common tools and techniques I use everyday to protect people's safety.
In most of our history, humans used axes. The first recorded tow axis dates back to 6000 BC. The unique usage and versatility of these tools make them an obvious choice for firefighting. The history of ax in fire fighting is difficult to track, because the two are closely related through time. I just want to say that there may be an ax used to help it as long as people are fighting the fire.
Flathead Ax has three basic parts. First, please cut wedges and axes. Second, the striking face or back of the ax. With a flat ax, the rear of the ax is flat and acts like a hammer. This is the main difference between flat ax and its cousin. Finally, there is a tool "handle" or a handle. It is a place to grab the ax in use
- Forced input Along with Harrigan Bar, Flat Ax is a set of fire fighters called "Hardcore" or "Marriage". The combination of this cookware and striking tool is mainly used to enter a locked building to allow firefighters to conduct search and rescue activities and extinguish the fire. There are also technologies that can be used to access only with a flat ax. The reliability is not so high as to use a hard core, but in some cases it may be necessary, and in some cases it may be faster.
- Search and rescue. Flat axes are one of the main tools used by firefighters when they enter the building for victims to look for buildings they are burning. The ax is near the head, the ax is used as the extension of the arm, and the firefighter can look for a wider area under zero visibility conditions
- Overhaul. When a firefighter is thoroughly reviewed, a flat ax can be used to cut and crush the area. Overhaul means to inspect the spreading part of walls and ceiling and to prevent fire that is thought to have been extinguished from recurrent fire. Pike is more commonly used for this task, but in some cases the flat head will be a better tool choice.
Every time my department was dismissed, the first person who got out of the truck grasped Flat Ax and Hurrican Bar. "Iron Man" is responsible for entering the building so that the team can search, rescue and extinguish the fire.
New firefighting equipment emerges daily and using one of the oldest tools proves that these well designed shafts are an indispensable tool in firefighting. Fire Axe Depending on the quality and style of the product, the fireman will want to place his ax on the ax of the truck. In short, the tool developed by the company is simple but powerful enough to be efficiently designed to maintain reliability. Randy Frassetto has been working for City of Surprise (Arizona) fire department since 2001 and was promoted to captain in 2005. FreateFire is part of Northwest Valley firefighter local 4361. Frassetto was assigned to the majority of his career. I will go to a ladder company 305. He is the president of the Arizona Ladder Operations Officer, representing most of the provincial fire department / area.
