Filaret completed his substantial book on architecture around 1464 he called Libro architettonico ("architectural book"). He and his closest generation of the same generation did not call it a "trait" ("thesis"), but now it is called "a trait". During the Renaissance, Libro including 25 volumes was distributed considerably widely in manuscript form. The most famous and most preserved copy of Libro is a manuscript containing numerous illustrations called Codex Magliabechiano (probably drafted in 1465, now in the archive of Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze). The Codex Alimentarius Committee Magliabechiano is dedicated to Piero de Medici and is preserved in Florence, which shows that his hometown of Florence is still highly valued though Filarete is faithful to Milan .
