Fidel Alejandro Castro Luz was born on 13 August 1926 at Birn in Cuba in eastern Cuba. He is the third of six children, he has two brothers and three sisters. Castro was educated at Jesuit boarding school from El Colegio de Belen.
After graduating at the end of 1945, Castro entered Law Faculty at Havana University and became interested in Cuban nationalism, anti-imperialism, socialism. In 1947, he visited the Dominican Republic to participate in the expedition trying to defeat the dictator Raphael Trujo. On July 26, 1953, Castro and 150 supporters attacked the Moncada military camp and tried to defeat Batista. The attack failed, Castro was arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. Castro was released in 1955. He went to Mexico where he met Ernest "cut" Guevara, who developed a new strategy to overthrow the Batista regime based on the guerrilla war. In January 1959, Castro successfully completed the classical guerrilla war against Cuba at the age of 32.
In 1961, the relationship between Castro and the United States began to deteriorate. On 16th April, Castro officially declared Cuba as a socialist country. The next day, 1,400 Cuban refugees invaded Cuba in Pigs Bay, trying to defeat Castro. The invasion ended with a disaster.
