Federalists believe that they have a strong federal government. They believe that one of the weaknesses of federal terminology is the lack of power in the federal government. Federalists believe in the loose interpretation of the Constitution. Loose explanation will allow the federal government to do a lot of things not explicitly stated in the constitution. Federalists are supporting Hamilton's debt plan and the development of the National Bank. Many businessmen especially support this meeting in the northeast. Federalists also hope to build a more friendly relationship with the UK. John Adams and Alexander Hamilton are Federalists

The first major parties were formed around federalism and anti-federalism. Simply stated, the federalists led by Alexander Hamilton desire a stronger federal government. Anti-federists led by Patrick Henry want to give the state more autonomy. Over time, the party changed their name and status, and today the same struggle continues with the labels of modern Republicans and Democrats. Modern parties show that if any one goal is politically profitable, they are all supporters of state rights, or increase the authority of the federal government. People only need to see how much opposition they have against the growing spy nation given by the two governments. This is the inherent corruption of political parties and established national loyalty to political parties rather than states.
