The list of the United States Federal Holiday in 2018 is as follows. For convenience, days of holiday are also displayed. Federal holidays are holidays established by the US Congress for Federal employees in federal law (US code number 6103). Employees get paid during the holidays
The US federal holiday history dates back to the 28th June 1870 when the provincial legislature created a federal holiday corresponding to the holiday celebrated by the state. Federal leave was initially applied only to federal employees in the District of Columbia, but Congress expanded coverage to all Federal employees in 1885. George Washington's birthday became a federal holiday in 1880. In 1888 and 1894, a day of decoration (now an anniversary) and a day of labor were made. In celebration of the end of the First World War in 1938, a cease-fire anniversary (current veteran's day) was established. In commemoration of the American who fought in World War II and Korean War in 1954, the range and name of the festival day was expanded.

This day is sometimes called the pancake Tuesday by the UK, as the fat prohibited by Lent must be used up.
