Pedro Arupe, the father of his mission, is truly a man of God and was born to lead the Jesuits to excellence. Born in Bilbao, Spain, he first felt it was known to burn the world through medicine. He received medical training over the years, but he decided that his real call was from the Jesuits, and he joined in 1927. As the Republican government banished the order, he could not continue to study in Spain. This he did not stop him because he was unwavering in pursuit of priesthood; he studied in the Netherlands and Belgium.

I think that our Catholicism and the identity of the Jesuits have contributed to this, but in a way we have been fighting this problem for more than 40 years. In 1973, Father Pedro Alp, leader of the Jesuits, basically redefines the meaning that we will be an institution of the Jesuits. Part of the redefinition is how sensitive we are to the need for world justice. The number of organizations that can clearly show how we understand participation in the world is unknown. This is certainly not the case when I came here as a freshman, but as a core of the institution, we believe that we will fight these problems developed over 40 years. Father Alone Alpus has all of these, and since the mid-1960's, the three Jesuit leaders, Father Corben Bach and Father Nicholas maintained this momentum.

Upon completion of the course, students can transfer to a public or private 4-year university. Arrupe College has just completed its first year and hopes to strengthen its program over the next few years. I think that this model can revolutionize the way traditional four-year universities meet the needs of low-income students. In addition, I am actively participating by incorporating my American college pledge and participating in a four-year university. Ultimately, students can prepare for a better future.
