Farmworker's Daughter

Among the farm workers' daughters, Rose Castillo Gilbo explained the importance of what was raised in the United States. Mónica Ramírez is the daughter and granddaughter of an immigrant farm worker. She is co-founder and president of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas (National Farm Workers Women Union). Monica has long backed female workers' women, including the right to be free from gender-based violence, sexism, harassment and gender-based violence. He is a guest of Laura Dern of the Golden Globe Award in 2018, a keynote speaker of the United Nations International Women's Day and a founding member of ReflectUs.

Monica Lewis grew up in Central Valley as a daughter of an immigrant farm worker. Despite their efforts under harsh conditions, her parents are still struggling to earn a living to pay low wages. When she was a teenager, Monica was able to work with her parents and continue on the same path. Instead, she found a work of a union at Stockton public school. And it paid a living wage and offered good health benefits like health insurance and pension. Union workers in labor union contracts earn 13% more income than non-union workers of similar industries with similar age and educational background. This is equivalent to an annual income of about $ 5,800 for individual workers, $ 18.5 billion for all labor union workers in California, and $ 3.6 billion for bay area. This will be a big boost for not only the family of trade unions but also the regional economy which uses extra money.
