There is a big difference between farm life and city life, but rural and urban communities depend on each other to provide a rich American lifestyle. Farmers are committed to producing high quality food, textiles and forest products so that everyone can enjoy it. Moving these products from farm to home requires cooperation with people of all walks of life. Many people such as grocery stores, truck drivers, factory workers, computer scientists, bankers, veterinarians, chemists, salesmen, etc. play an important role in foods from fields to kitchen tables.
The main purpose of rural areas is to deepen their understanding of the relationship between farmers and urban workers. Since 1955, the Farm City Council held educational events and learned how to visit local farms and how their own foods are raised.

The theme of "Agriculture: food of life" in 2017 of the National Agricultural Day and Agricultural City Week Week captures the essence of agriculture. It is not agriculture, there are no other industries and activities related to "life". Farmers produce cereals, proteins, fruits, vegetables, nuts and dairy products that sustain life. The food we eat is actually the fuel of our body. Without it, life will be unsustainable. Agriculture, however, is intertwined with "life" in other ways. Private farms and forest areas provide wildlife habitats and food and support the lives of all natural creatures. Food is indispensable
