Family as a family of social system was originally a slave band. (Coontz 1999) It is worth noting when looking at the origin of the family. Even if this term applies to people with relatives and marriage relations this means that our contemporary terminology is related by family concept as an authoritative relationship rather than being a family as a family of loved ones doing. It is also important to note that in most white Christian societies, marriages with people other than elites are not rituals done in the past 250 years.

Since families are the major social institutions of society, the existence of each social institution depends on the function performed by social institutions. Families are no exception. According to Augbern and Nimcoff, sexual necessity and birth satisfaction are important functions of the family. Many social scientists believe that the main reason for the existence of family system is that children have a longer dependence period. Another function of the family system is to provide formal and informal education for children. Children must go to school for formal education, but non-regular education is provided by family college. Families provide information about culture and help to balance the development of personality. Families perform social rules by growing their personality. In traditional society and modern society, this function belongs to family system.

Indeed, families are unique social institutions without substitutes. It is the most permanent and universal of all social institutions. The word "family" comes from the word "family" in Latin. This family is a small group of fathers, mothers, one or more children, and some relatives. This is the main and basic function of the family. Sexual instinct is human's natural urge. To fulfill this need, it is necessary for both men and women to live together as a life partner. The couple can meet sexual instinct easily and comfortably. Without families, it is almost impossible for society to meet sexual desire. Families not only satisfy but also provide an appropriate mechanism for regulating the sexual behavior of couples through marriage.
