Family Albums: A Practical Analysis

Since its founding in the 1860's, family albums have played an important role as a promoter of treasure of family ideas and family memories. "Most family-oriented albums contain a wide variety of items, including items of different time and quality," they agree (Schoeman, 1996: 8). The function of family photos is "restoration of perception and memory, preservation of memory, record of important moments, confirmation of facts of social relations and attribution" (Tobiassen, 1990).

A few years ago the Times published an article entitled "The Art of Destroying Family Albums". In this work there is a Dutch curator called Erik Kessels who created an art exhibition called Album Beauty. Erik has spent nearly 15 years searching for anonymous family-friendly albums at flea market and used stores. He explained: At the beginning of the year, I imagined a classic family photo album with my team. For general online sharing, I have created an Old Family Photos album on Facebook. iPhoto can easily share albums (though it is not a private group). I was surprised at how many people touched a chord in my family history. Do not be shy; remember the sensitivity of your family's privacy when you share. However, looking at these images, the title slide is very precious. Meanwhile, my parents went to dozens of random mountain beaches, gardens, and campgrounds. Except for slide date ("September 83"), I do not know which it is. (Occasionally there will be handwritten notes like "Explorer Trip" and "London." Thank you, Pop, then.)
