40% is an important value. It represents 4 out of 10 people, projects or ideas. Sometimes it shows progress, sometimes a return. However, there is a specific value of 40%. This is a big problem for all people all over the world. This proportion leads to hunger, pain, and death. According to the NRDC (Natural Resources Protection Council), 40% of the food produced in the United States is abandoned every year. Food is not properly distributed or consumed, and the most unfortunate thing is to pay it in life.
Food waste is a big problem in the United States. About one-third of food is produced and transported for human consumption and never been eaten. Fruits and vegetables account for most of this equation, but cooked and processed foods are also expensive. Approximately one sixth of Americans think that food security is a problem and teachers often use their money to buy food for their students. However, in addition to starvation, food waste can also lead to pollution and climate change. A large amount of water and energy are necessary for the cultivation and transportation of food. When food can not be eaten, these resources are wasted.
There are many contributing factors to food insecurity, but one of them can not ignore food waste. In other words, efforts to reduce food waste will help reduce food insecurity. In order to help solve our garbage problem, we can use affordable markets for food-insecure people with all the food waste of completely safe food . There is a need for a major change in the SNAP program by the government, but there are some adjustments that can be incorporated into today's society without much hassle. In fact, the United States consumes 40% of food and 17% of the population of the country is hungry so it gets morally sick and needs to encourage them to solve these problems. As a result of conscious attempts to combat food waste by introducing an ugly food-friendly grocery store, Denmark reduced food waste by 25% over the past six years (Hitchings-Hales 2017). Instead, why can not we do if the problem is that Denmark can do it?
Food waste is not a problem in the United States alone, it happens all over the world, especially the amount of food abandoned in grocery stores is phenomenal. However, the new supermarket in Denmark removes the constraints of traditional food items and is doing something against all food waste. WeFood opened in Copenhagen earlier last week raised excess food and sold at less than half the price of regular grocery stores. So, what is the "food left"? Although it exceeds the "expiration date", it is still safe to eat, labels are wrong, packaging is broken, extra foods are produced in large quantities, not in other grocery stores. Space is full. Usually, if there are these items in the store, they will go directly to the trash can, but in WeFood it will go to the customer's hand.
