The phrase "they all look like me" is well-known and used as a joke (Goldstein & Chance, 1985), but the meaning of this sentence may not be understood as widely as it should be. In the criminal justice system, identification of eyewitnesses may play an important role in the jury's decision, but it has been shown that the jury does not recognize the factors that affect the witness's reliability ( Cutler, Penrod, & Dexter, 1990). One such factor is to be able to talk to people who are identifying people of various races (when explaining that race is Caucasian, African, Asian, or Latino).
The use of eyewitness testimonies is the main source of evidence used in judicial systems around the world. Eyewitness testimony refers to people's explanation of witnessed events. The explanation includes identification of the attacker, "details of the crime scene", etc. (McLeod, 2009). The testimony shows the importance of the witness and focuses on the theory that the jury tends to rely heavily on such explanations, including at least the witnesses, being excessively convinced. According to statistics, "There were 500 erroneous convictions and it was concluded that the false witness's discrimination rate was 60%" (Green, 2009). This can be regarded as many false positives. Research in this field shows that eyewitness testimonies can be affected by many factors.
Witnesses' testimony has long been regarded as important evidence of litigation. Even though the witness's explanation conflicts with other suggested evidence, the public thinks that witnesses are more frequently identified than other evidence. Studies have shown that eyewitness testimonies are unreliable, but they are still considered to be the most important forms of evidence. People think that it happens if people say that they have seen something. There is currently no general guide on how to obtain and provide such evidence. The purpose of this article is to explain why eyewitnesses' testimonies are unreliable and to discuss guidelines suggesting how law enforcement agencies collect identities and suggest suggested guidelines.
Abstract: Scenario assessment enables the identification of physical evidence, collection and preservation, and planning to coordinate the identification of witnesses. It also enables information exchange between law enforcement officers and development of research strategies. Summary: When you perform a walkthrough of the scenario, the survey staff will provide an overview of the entire scene. This exercise provided the first opportunity to identify valuable and / or fragile evidence, identified the preliminary investigation procedure, and provided system checks and onsite documents. Documents and photographic documents record the status of the first observed scene and provide a permanent record
