Five geographical themes are educational tools for teaching geography. The five themes of geography were originally used as a framework to allow kids from kindergarten to high school to access geography. They describe an easy and effective way for parents and educators to teach the children about the concept of geography and how it is applied to nature, civilization and so on. These themes were replaced by the 1994 National Geographic Standards, but it is still an easy and convenient way to teach children the study of geography. The first topic is the location.
