In this article we will review two articles and investigate the experience and characteristics of psychiatric sit-ups. The first year case study by Intansari Nurjannah, Mary Fitz Gerald, and Kim Foster investigated the experience of refractory patients in psychiatric hospitals in Indonesia. These experiences were recorded through 16 semistructured interviews focused on qualitative information. The second journal article by Eimear Muir-Cochrane, Krista Mosel, Adam Gerace, Adrian Esterman, and Len Bowers is investigating the characteristics of Australian psychiatric ward external patients by analyzing statistical data.

Several psychiatric hospitals have prison characteristics.
