Myths have been part of human life for a long time. As a child, we learn myths from everyone around us. When I was a child, me and my family lived in a large corn field. My father often speaks myths of my brothers and corn monsters in my life. Myths point out that maize monsters are roaming in the cornfield and crouching near the corn field whether they are adults or children. Like all myths, this has a purpose. My father told us this scare to frighten my brother and me outside the cornfield so that we would not lose that way without doubting it.
The power of the myth is a book based on the 1988 PBS documentary Joseph Campbell and mythical powers. The documentary was originally aired by a six-hour dialogue between mythologist Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) and journalist Bill Mois. It is still one of the most popular series in the history of American public television. The interview of the first 5 episodes took place at George Lucas' California Skywalker Ranch and the sixth interview took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This is the last two summers of Campbell's life. Among these discussions, Campbell published his view on the comparative myth and the continuing role of the myth in human society. These speech includes excerpts of Campbell's revolutionary work "The Thousand Faces and the Hero's Heroes"
When reading a physical book, I often get distracted. For example, I read the idea of primitive society's myths in Joseph Campbell's "mythical powers", start thinking about the similarities between wisdom and thought, and the stories I talked about when I was young. On the same page, please think about how my mother can remember many stories (probably the memorial palace?) Okay. There is an audio book as a general alternative. By simply downloading Audible (de facto Amazon monopoly) you will be able to access most physical books narrated at adjustable speed. This is very convenient. Because the rhythm is set according to the sound of the headphones, the time and focus of reading has become very long (listening at 5 times normal speed, complete an average book in about 8 hours). I started listening to lots of audio books during commuting and traveling.
