Briefly, my opinion is that many people believe that happiness and peace are brought with the accumulation of things. According to Appleby, culture is defined as "all values, norms, knowledge, behavior patterns, and artifacts that move from generation to generation and form a human lifestyle" (p. 18). The reason for the existence of culture is that people share knowledge, creativity and experience among generations.
