Evolution through Adaptation

DR. BATHER made some additional suggestions for an interesting study on "Adapting to Evolution" at NATURE on March 30. In writing for this topic, there is a tendency to think of "mutations" that occur in somatic cells. Some stimuli, if maintained over several generations, may cause mutations in germ cells that are consistent with somatic mutations there is. The concept of bacterial mutation, which is created in a way compatible with the emerging somatic cell change, is a concept that exists in many kinds of cases, but not necessarily in all kinds of cases.
