Evolution of Slavery

"A person belonging to the property of another person and completely under the jurisdiction of another person"; this is the definition of "slave". Over 400 years, 12 million Africans were arrested, brought to the "New World" by about 40,000 ships, and enslaved. It is more than 80 slaves a day. The viewpoints of Southern Caucasian, Northern, people of color change and they are different. Slave trade to America began in 1620 and 19 Africans were sold to colonies called "Virginia". These slaves were brought to the USA by a ship of the Netherlands and sold as contract slaves.

In my article, Jon Butler, author of "Evolution of American Slavery in Colonial Era" explains the reasons for slavery evolution. Butler details the difference between Africa's experience in America and European experience in the United States.
