Estuaries

The estuary estuary is our coastal waters formed when fresh water from the river flows in and mixes with salt water from the sea. At the estuary, the surrounding continents, the peninsula, the barrier island, or the salt marsh around it prevents fresh river water from flowing into the ocean. Mixing fresh water with salty water creates a vibrant and unique environment. The estuary has abundant life nutrients collected from land and sea.
