African-American citizens who live in the USA with their mothers and their way to the fuse experienced a difficult life through personal experiences. They have worked hard for basic citizenship - this is a struggle for centuries (Mabunda 311). Langston Hughes is the author of the short story "On the Road" and the poem "Mother vs. Son" and explains the difficulties experienced by characters that are products of American African American living.

Hughes' poet "Mother vs. Son" depicts a black mother who advises her son to have hope despite all the difficulties of life. My mother told my son that life was not easy, but she continued. Despite all obstacles in life, this poem carries a message of hope. Hughes expresses this idea using a metaphor such as "Crystal Staircase", a color image such as light and dark contrast, and a dialect.

It is a very powerful work that tells us that a strong woman has gained a lot of experience in her life and that it is not a simple journey.
