The American History Essay Competition aims to encourage young people to think creatively about the wonderful history of our country and to understand history in a new way.
This competition is for public, private and parish school students, and registered family study programs. Students from grade 5 to grade 8 are encouraged to participate. Every year, the selected topics used during the academic year are published, the game description is posted online and sent to the school by the chapter of the participating DAR. Review the historical accuracy of the article, compliance with the subject matter, material composition, interests, creativity, spelling, grammar, punctuation and neatness
Participating chapters send award-winning papers from each of the four levels for consideration at the state level. The state government sends award-winning papers from each of the four levels for evaluation at the department level. Award-winning papers for each of the four levels will be judged nationwide and the winners will be announced.
Each student participant receives a certificate of participation in the chapter, the winner of the chapter receives a bronze medal and a certificate. State winners will receive a certificate and silver medal. The national winner will be given special certificates, medals, and monetary rewards.
DAR partnered with the National Italian and American Foundation (NIAF) in 1996 to sponsor the annual National Essay Competition to celebrate Christopher Columbus.
Competition is open to students from 9th grade to 12th grade. Every year, DAR and NIAF agree on the topics used during the academic year, the contest description will be posted online and sent to the school through participation in the DAR chapter.

All submitted papers will be sent out from chapters participating for review at the state level. The state government sends award-winning papers to review at the department level. We will review each award winning thesis from the national level and announce the winners. The second and third place winners were selected nationwide.
Each student participant receives a certificate of participation in the chapter. National prize will be awarded by NIAF

There are two paper competitions. Fountainhead will reply to the essay contest for 11th and 12th graders.
