Coble Essay 3 The controversy between ethnic groups of African Americans began with ethnic encounters and discrimination in the 1920s and the American society became dominant. Despite extreme discrimination against African Americans, many African Americans have been judged erroneously and treated with their stereotypes. In James Baldwin's "Domestic Notes" and Brent Staples' s "Just Walk by by", both authors share a reaction to the encounter with the race. Through the tone, style, and rhetorical strategy of each writer's story, you can see the differences and similarities between the writers and the experiences they have to face. Both papers have different tones in that they are talking about their racial discrimination experience. In "Aboriginal child's note", Baldwin felt pain and regret as a person explaining his growing ethnic encounter. A negative emotion against his father's "white" society reflects his distance from Baldwin. "My father died on 29th July 1943" (Baldwin, 50 years old). This is the first sentence of his story, he initially has great influence and speaks in a very direct and negative way. For the reader this creates a painful feeling as he is in front of his father's death and also explains about the period of his father's death. In the 1940's, people were more likely to become more serious, and the readers felt that Baldwin was suffering as a person rather than the death of his father. With bitterness, readers sympathize with his sentences.

Professor Eduardo Bonilla-Silva concluded that this neglected racial discrimination system is the result of "colorblind racial discrimination". He stated that "white people rationalize the status of minorities to market dynamics, natural phenomena, and the product of their presumed cultural deficits", while "reckless about" putative biological and moral inferiority " Discussion "dismissed.
