Regardless of race, social class, or gender, fairness relates to everyone who is fair and equitable. Social justice extends the notion of fairness and incorporates human rights into social contracts

Students cultivate awareness, knowledge and skills about issues such as race, social class, sex, ability, sexual orientation, while focusing on social behavior. Students will learn how to familiarize themselves with these controversial issues through specific history and their own experiences.

Educational fairness and social justice are a five week cross listing course designed to explore opportunities for educational equity and educational equity for social justice. Education does not occur in vacuum. What kind of education (formal or informal) is also subject to cultural, political, professional and personal circumstances. Analysis and action are necessary to solve the problem of social justice in an increasingly diverse educational environment.
