The social and cultural beliefs living in California are the only languages that are approved and accepted. Looking at our school and multicultural society, the reverse is true. From an educational point of view, we are seeing the influx of many languages and students born and immigrated to America. Most of today's children besides English are currently born in the United States. Our civil rights declaration is handled equally in our educational program and in human rights as well.
English is the first language of an English-speaking country, and it is regarded as the second language in countries other than English-speaking countries. One of the main reasons to learn English is that it is equally accepted in all countries. You do not need to be a Shakespeare to communicate in English. The world is full of people, and they are eager to adapt to every statement of 140 letters. In such a world, assignments are offered to students to gain expertise in that field. Increasing proficiency allows students to get better scores and ultimately get better GPAs. This is suitable for the virtual world (release of social media), which is different from the real world.
Students who are difficult to write in standard English may be international students from countries that do not speak English. Alternatively, there is a possibility that English is not a mother tongue, a student whose native language is English, or a native language is a student of English. People in the latter two groups have one thing in common. In other words, they understand the language well, but we are still trying to speak fluently on paper. If you are not an ESL expert, how do you deal with the texts of multilingual students? GSI does not have to behave like an ESL expert. What GSI normally does is to evaluate students' proficiency levels for specific course materials or to understand topics based on writing tasks using appropriate grading standards (a set of specific criteria).
